AAANZ

Conference

Tradition and Transformation

This year's conference will be held from 1–4 December 2010, that is Wednesday to Saturday. A range of university and gallery partners will come together to deliver another very exciting conference.

The 2010 CAL Keynote Speaker is Professor Evelyn Welch, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, Queen Mary, London.  Professor Welch is President of the AAH (Association of Art Historians). She leads the 5 million GBP research project ‘Beyond Text’, as well as a 1 million Euro European Science Foundation project ‘Fashioning the Early Modern’. A leading Renaissance scholar, Welch is expert in connecting art history with government policy and ‘innovation culture’ ideas, and has previously been consulted by the Australian Research Council. She works in conjunction with the Queen Mary Centre for Commercial Law Studies, to investigate how past practices in terms of copyright, patent and trademark protection can inform and challenge current understanding of these issues. Her presence at the AAANZ Annual Conference will provide a unique opportunity to gather together policy and research communities engaging with these concerns. The topic of her keynote address will be advised closer to the date.

John Paoletti and Philip Jones are the other two keynote speakers.
